Having been first inspired by the shadows of trees that she saw on grass, she did a lot of delving into a technique thatconversely did not convey the selected subject as a 2-dimensional representation on canvas. Instead, the object is transformed into a re-creation of itself, where the surface transforms into the medium for it's personal interpretation by painting, particularly in the case of alive or perishable like people or fruits. Alexa's style of painting is very ephemeral. Only the images of her work are preserved. Techniques of photography and painting are tightly coordinated, resulting in a flat, two-dimensional area that is trompe l'oeil. The only areas of the photo such as the hair, or eyes, show the third dimension. Meade has integrated her model paintings into the space of 3D that surrounds them. The interaction between them and the created environment can be achieved. By doing so, Meade has dissolved the boundaries between photography, painting and performance.
